Hair Transplant
Definition: | Involves moving of hair follicles from one part of the body to bold or balding parts. Whereby, grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding are transplanted to bald scalp. |
Procedure: | The surgeon will numb the area designed for the harvesting of the healthy hair. A cluster of hair follicles from the area will be removed and will be transferred to the require area. This process is repeated several times until the required area is completed. The hair is placed in the direction in which it is meant to grow in order to ensure a natural look. |

Post-Operative Care: | Advised patient that newly transplanted hair usually grows 16 weeks and will be completed after 9 months. Suture will be removed 5-7 days after procedure No heavy exercise 3 wks after procedure. Advised patient that scarring will be a factor of low percentage of growth hair. Advised there is slight headache but can be tolerated by medicine. A small amount of bleeding might occur which is normal There is a thinning or pre-existing hair which is temporary only. Advised there is swelling around forehead and eyes which will subside in few days. Advised patient to have regular shampoo & use saline to moisture the grafts which usually help to minimize the condition. Apply cold, ice pack to reduce swelling, bruising, pain. |
