Eyes (Upper/Lower Blepharoplasty)

 
Definition: It is a surgical modification of eyelid especially dropping of upper eyelid causing a narrowing of the palpebral aperture. Lower eyelid is to reduce “bags” and wrinkling of the skin. This surgery can address the features that cause you to appear older and more tired. The surgery will remove “crow’s feet”, smooth wrinkles around eyes or erase dark circles around the eyes.
   
Procedure: Excess tissue such as skin and fat are removed, repositioned and surrounding muscles and tendons maybe reinforced.
   
Duration of Surgery: 50 minutes

No Aspirin 2 days prior to surgery
Avoid smoking and drinking alcoholic beverage 1 month prior to procedure
Checked patient’s readiness and knowledge about the procedure
Advised patient’s to go on fasting midnight before the procedure.
Shower and shampoo before procedure and wash eyebrows.
   
Post-Operative Care: Keep iced pack on the eyes to reduce bruising and swelling for the first 2 days.
Use artificial tears to comfort and protect the eyes surface.
The vision might be slightly blurry & will resolve in few days.
Put lukewarm eye pads for comfort on the third day after surgery.
Wear sunglasses for at least 1 week to prevent irritation that may be caused by the wind and sun exposure.
Do not wear contact lenses until incisions are completely healed.
Keep the head elevated as sleeping to accelerate recovery process.
Removed suture within 5 days after surgery.
No heavy exercise within 2 weeks
Apply Eye Creams to help scar softer and dimmed down
Frequently naps are recommended for the eyes will tire easily for the first several weeks.
Scars will fade within 4-12 months.
