Definition: | Surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast using saline-filled or Cohesive Silicone Gel implants. |
Procedure: | Breast implant can be placed using sub-muscularly via incision under breast or around areola |

Post-Operative Care: | Advised patient’s to keep the wound dry for 2-3 days The bra acts like a dressing, holding the breast & implant in perfect position. Cold, or ice packs help to reduce swelling, bruising & pain. Wear the bra all the time for 4 weeks. Pain is easily controlled by medicine. If dressing has been applied, they will be replaced by a surgical bra in a few days(to provide extra support & positioning as the wound heal). Sutures will be removed within a week Minimal discoloration and swelling will disappear rapidly. Firmness of breast may occur which is normal and will disappear. Surgeon may recommend a breast massage program to promote softness. Might have a loss of sensitivity in nipples but will return. Avoid over activity within (heavy lifting) a month. Use a fabric post-op bra (e.g. Sports bra, compression bandage) 24/7. Shower bath can be extended after removing fabric. Back to work 3-5 days Scars along incision site maybe pink for several weeks & will fade within several months. Report any untoward fever, swelling & redness of implanted breasts to surgeon. |
Breast Reduction Surgery (Reduction Mammaplasty)
Definition: | Performed to reduce disproportionately large, sagging breasts. |
Procedure: | 1.Involves both horizontal and vertical incision that follows the contour of the breasts. Vertical incision will create keyhole shaped pattern above areola. Surgeon will incise excess tissue, fat and skin on the side of the breast and nipple, areola and underlying tissues will be placed to a new higher location.
2. Breast Liposuction- can only be done to a patient with not so large breast or size. |

Breast Lift Surgery (Mastopexy)
Definition: | Raises and reshape sagging breasts. Can be performed with or without insertion of breast implants. |
Procedure: | Surgeon makes incision circle around areola which is in a key hole pattern and 2 incision around the breast which will be closed to make one line. Surgeon then reposition nipple and areola to a higher placement and eliminates excessive skin from beneath breast. No breast tissue is removed. |

Scars will remain visible for a year but will fade in some degree. Since no 2 breasts are the same size and shape before surgery, usually a slight variation will exist after surgery. For 48 hours, keep your arm movements to minimum. Wear a support bra continuously for the 1st 3 weeks. Report any signs & symptoms of infection. (Swelling, redness, bleeding or foul drainage over the incision site) |
